10 December 2005 Trip of a lifetime at 75
Illustrating the kind of person who could certainly benefit from annual travel insurance, a 75-year-old man has spent just under half a year travelling the world.
John Guy LaPlante travelled to 20 countries in 147 days and covered the 36,750 miles by plane, train and bus. His experiences are recorded in his book, "Around the World at 75. Alone, Dammit!"
Measuring at over six feet long, Mr LaPlante's travel itinerary included countries on nearly every continent, reports Shore Publishing.
"I wanted to visit places that weren't your typical tourist hot-spots," commented Mr LaPlante.
"It wasn't a trip of extravagance, but it was the trip of a lifetime."
Included in his destinations were Japan, China and South Africa. Other than details of his experiences, his book also provides useful tips for like-minded travellers with annual travel insurance who are keen to take numerous trips to explore the world.
"I don't think you would ever be able to see it all," added Mr LaPlante, "but it's comforting just to know that the possibilities are endless."
