15 January 2007 Travelocity signs new agreement
Holidaymakers looking to check out the views of other travellers before they use their multi trip insurance to head overseas, may be interested in the recent agreement signed by Travelocity and Hotels By City.
Travelocity has signed a deal with the online travel site Hotels By City, an online resource that includes a number of holiday blogs that aim to better inform holidaymakers before they book their trip abroad.
It will also continue to provide the booking engine for the site.
Randy Schartner, chief executive officer and co-founder of Hotels By City, said: "Rather than telling our customers what we think they should be interested in, we would rather let them learn from other customers."
He added that the company believed that engaging with the blogs to search and analyse hotel options is an entertaining and interactive method for prospective travellers to learn about their holiday destinations before they travel.
Last October, internet travel search company SideStep acquired independent hotel ratings site TravelPost, citing its user-generated content as a key reason for the purchase.
