27 March 2007 Travellers offered 'crystal' holidays in Europe
Britons planning their summer holidays have been recommended a cruise trip around the Baltic and northern Europe, with the choice of eight itineraries and over 50 tour options available once on shore.
Luxury cruise firm Crystal Cruises is offering a range of trips, with a number of itineraries taking in three days in St Petersburg, with an exclusive ball at Yusupov Palace included.
Other available options include biking tours of art in Amsterdam and vineyards in Bordeaux alongside golfing trips to Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
John Stoll, director of land programmes at the firm, said: "The Baltic's vast natural beauty and tremendous cultural heritage enables us to offer an extensive variety of shoreside discoveries."
He added that this variety suited the trips to all-comers, from art-lovers and adventure fans to families.
Last year, annual travel insurance provider Halifax reported that 45 per cent of men and 43 per cent of women considered a cruise holiday their ideal once-in-a-lifetime break.
