05 February 2007 Travel trend 'driving overseas stag nights'
Stag and hen weekends are becoming an increasingly integral part of the wedding experience for many couples, it has been claimed, while an increasing affinity towards travel in the UK is driving forward the trend for overseas pre-wedding parties.
Online wedding and special event information and product resource Confetti has commented on recent figures from Weddingplan which reported the cost of an average wedding in Britain to be £18,490.
Carol Richardson, a spokesperson for Confetti, said: "Certainly it is becoming a much, much bigger trend to actually go abroad, go overseas for a whole weekend away."
She added that cheaper flights had contributed to the trend of increased trips abroad, while Britons were also favouring new destinations when booking their air travel.
Last year, annual travel insurance provider Alliance & Leicester reported that the average cost of a stag or hen night had reached £365, quoting figures provided by Morgan Stanley.
