13 June 2007 Travel insurance 'essential' when heading abroad
Britons heading abroad have been advised that it is essential to purchase single trip or annual travel insurance before setting off overseas.
Sta Travel, an international travel firm focused on the needs of younger people worldwide, notes that some people will go to foreign countries without cover, unaware of the potentially high costs that can be suffered abroad.
Celia Pronto, marketing director at the firm, said: "It also tends to be the case that when travelling, individuals take more risks than they would at home."
These risks can include taking part in adventure sports, performing manual work and living in shared accommodation.
She added that in addition to providing financial protection if the unexpected occurs, single or multi trip insurance can offer peace of mind to travellers to aid the enjoyment of the trip.
In January 2007, More Than reported that an eighth of Britons are planning to take an adventure holiday during 2007, while 12 per cent will do so without travel insurance.
