26 November 2005 Spain tops choice for 2005 destinations
Spain has topped the choice of destinations for British travellers this year, closely followed by France and Greece.
According to Trip-Vision, travellers taking advantage of their annual multi-trip travel insurance jetted off to destinations such as the Costa Del Sol, Greek Islands and the French Riviera.
America came in at fourth in destination choice, and Greece was the choice for a large number of people on package holidays.
Good news for those with annual travel insurance comes from the findings that changes within Spain to allow greater flexibility for travellers, such a greater choice between chartered, scheduled and budget-airline flights, encouraging a number of short breaks rather than one lone holiday.
President of Trip-Vision Martin Wellings said: "There's no doubt that the changes we are seeing in the industry to Spain will broaden out to other destinations.
"This will have an impact on consumer protection.
"However, if customers book with an ABTA company, they will still be able to travel fully protected and are safe in the knowledge that they have booked with a company that will offer a minimum service guarantee," Mr Wellings advised.
