19 April 2006 Single trip travel insurance trap
British holiday makers are being urged to consider an annual travel insurance policy, as according to travel insurance company More Than, holidaymakers could be overpaying with single trip travel insurance policies.
According to their survey, UK travellers take over 60 million foreign trips each year and yet 73 per cent of people buy single trip insurance each time they travel.
Graham Hollebon, head of product for More Than, commented: "Travel insurance can make an unfortunate situation more bearable — and a lot less stressful.
"Anyone planning more than two trips away each year should consider purchasing annual cover, which will save both time and money."
More Than also calculate that over £330 million each year is spent on travel insurance policies bought from travel agents and tour operators, when people could also make savings if they shopped around and found a cheaper direct annual travel insurance provider.
The direct financial services arm of Royal & SunAlliance, More Than offers travel insurance via the internet and by phone with worldwide single trip cover starting from £44 and annual travel insurance priced from £41.50.
