29 September 2006 Regular travellers bemoan delays
Recent research by a travel review and advice website has found that business travellers, some who may be covered by annual travel insurance, intend to make a number multiple trips abroad, with flight delays noted as the most irritating part of their trips.
TripAdvisor found 34 per cent of those surveyed plan to take up to three business trips this year, with just under ten per cent intending to make ten or more trips with 68 per cent regularly staying at the same hotel chain on their trips.
The survey also found that the most irritating aspect of business travel for 48 per cent of travellers was flight cancellations and delays.
Michele Perry, director of communications for TripAdvisor, noted that travellers were "loyal to hotels that meet and exceed their expectations", and that "happy travellers beget happy travellers".
Writing in the Times, district judge Stephen Gerlis advised that damages that can be claimed from airlines as a result of difficulties with air travel are limited by law and that "comprehensive travel insurance" could "bridge the gap" for concerned travellers.
