16 March 2006 Proposed strikes fuel travel insurance fears Travel insurance providers have said that they will continue to cover people despite fears over possible strikes by airlines.
Concerns have been raised that strikes could be conducted over the Spring holidays by staff working for Delta Air Lines and its Erlanger-based subsidiary Comair.
Results will not be known until March 24th and April 4th, when the strike votes will be held.
However, travellers flying with those companies who purchase travel insurance before those dates have been advised that they will still be reimbursed in the event of any cancellations.
David Craychee, director of marketing at CSA Travel Protection, told USA Today that the company had kept a close eye on Delta Air Lines and that for now their policies still cover the tickets.
"Sometimes, we cut off coverage earlier, but this doesn't look like it's going that way," he said.
"We wait until we have something definite like a strike announcement."
For those concerned that they may lose significant amounts of money due to a strike, annual travel insurance can provide peace of mind that all holidays will be covered throughout the year.
