17 March 2006 Newly-weds urged to remember annual travel insurance
As the honeymoon sector is tipped to grow this year people are encouraged to ensure that they are covered by annual travel insurance.
With same-sex weddings now legal, more newly-weds are expected to travel overseas than ever before.
Data from the Office for National Statistics has revealed that marriage is becoming increasingly popular, with 311,180 marriages carried out in 2004 alone.
Civil partnerships will increase significantly in 2006, as 4,500 are expected to take place in the coming year.
But among the excitement of organising a wedding, brides and grooms-to-be are advised to take out a travel insurance policy.
"When you are planning your trip of a lifetime - be it a foreign wedding and honeymoon combined or just your honeymoon, it is easy to overlook something as basic as your travel insurance cover," commented Joanne Field of American Express Travel Insurance.
Wedding budgets are also expected to increase, with the average wedding costing in excess of £16,000, highlighting the need to find the best multi trip insurance available to keep costs down as much as possible.
