06 July 2007 Multi-trippers 'should buy annual travel insurance Consumers planning on taking more than one holiday within a 12-month period should opt for an annual travel insurance policy, it has been suggested.
Direct Line notes that purchasing a multi trip insurance policy can be more cost effective than purchasing a number of single trip policies during the year.
The firm also advises holidaymakers to inform their insurance company of any potentially risky activities they may partake in abroad, as they may not be necessarily covered by their policy as standard.
Carmel McCarthy, public relations manager at the company, said: "If you are going on more than one trip a year, it is advisable to get an annual policy as you can save more money by doing so."
In May 2007, financial services comparison firm MoneyExpert reported that the average cost of single trip cover is £42.86, with the mean price of annual travel insurance around £113.86.
However, the firm noted that by shopping around, consumers could find annual cover that is in fact cheaper than that for a single holiday.
