Lonely Planet and FCO issue travel insurance advice
Annual Travel Insurance
23 February 2006 Lonely Planet and FCO issue travel insurance advice British travellers will be able to benefit from a new guide issued jointly by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and Lonely Planet.
The Travel Safe guidebook aims to help travellers stay safe while they are abroad by alerting them to common problems and dangers.
Topics covered in the guide include tips on getting the right travel insurance, local customs and laws and making sure that travellers do not leave a negative impact on their destinations.
The guide will particularly help travellers who aim to visit numerous countries throughout the year and will enable them to make better-informed decisions about annual travel insurance and how to act in particular countries.
"Travel can mean taking risks, leaving behind the everyday, experiencing a culture first hand and discovering the people, the history and the land," commented Stephen Palmer, Lonely Planet chief executive officer for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
"But we also believe that it's a traveller's responsibility to know before they go and research their destination to ensure they get the best out of their trip and have a positive impact on the place that they visit," Mr Palmer added.
