21 May 2007 Holidaymakers told annual cover 'could be sensible'
The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has advised holidaymakers who travel more than once a year that it may be prudent to purchase annual travel insurance in preference to separate cover for each of their trips.
While noting that there are a range of policies available at differing prices and levels of cover, the ABI has advised holidaymakers to select the single or multi trip insurance most appropriate to their needs.
Malcolm Tarling, a spokesperson for the association, commented that annual travel insurance can offer unlimited cover for many trips during the year, which could be suited to frequent fliers.
"If you travel frequently you don't have to worry about arranging travel insurance every time you travel," he said.
In April 2007, Halifax reported that the increasing use of low-cost airlines has resulted in Britons taking more holidays in Europe and elsewhere every year, with annual travel insurance becoming "a more attractive proposition" for many holidaymakers as a result.
