20 December 2006 Holidaymakers get snow cover advice
Holidaymakers wanting to ski this Christmas have been urged by a consumer finance portal to ensure they are covered by their single trip or annual travel insurance policy for piste closure occurring as a result of lack of snow.
These warnings from find.co.uk have follow reports that snow has failed to fall on many of Europe's leading ski slopes. It reported that a number of travel insurance policies do not pay out if your ski resort is out of action.
Kate Marsden, marketing director of Find.co.uk, said: "When selecting a travel policy in this age of global warming, it's worth checking you have realistic cover for piste closure and travel to an alternative location."
Fresh snow over the weekend in Austria and France allowed some slopes to open while a few pistes opened in Switzerland after a light coating.
Tour operator Inghams recently reported that sales of skiing holidays had not been affected by predictions of poor snow, as many travellers, such as those with multi trip insurance, had booked their holidays long in advance.
