16 August 2007 Families picking 'more adventurous' holiday destinations
While famously child-friendly destinations like Italy and Spain remain popular among British families picking out where to take their holidays, travellers are increasingly being more adventurous in picking the location of their trips, it has been claimed.
Holiday firm Take The Family reports that families with younger children are often perfectly suited to the sandy beaches on the continent, while destinations like the Seychelles are popular for winter breaks.
But the firm has noted an increasing penchant among families to travel further afield, with new favoured destinations including South America and the Middle and Far East.
Lucy Ace, managing director of the firm, said: "We even have infant adventure holidays where children over one year old can enjoy Jordan and the Dead Sea, or the pyramids in Egypt."
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office advises Britons heading to Egypt to ensure they purchase comprehensive medical and single or multi trip travel insurance prior to flying, while advising holidaymakers to carry their photo ID with them at all times.
