04 November 2006 Families get holiday tips Families, such as those heading abroad with annual travel insurance, have been given a list of tips to help avoid stress on holiday.
The advice, from children's charity KidsPeace, gives travellers advice to avoid emotional, physical and financial stress when on holiday.
Some potential causes of stress outlined by the group include overly high expectations of perfection, over-scheduling of activities and over-paying while abroad.
Dr Herbert Mandell, medical director of the charity, said: "Just as there is no perfect plan for the holidays, there is no perfect plan for minimizing stress.
He added that advanced planning, in addition to having realistic expectations for a trip and taking care over food and shopping, could help families to have a more enjoyable and healthier holiday.
During the summer, the Post Office noted that mothers can spend up to 42 hours a week doing chores on a family holiday, and urged families to organise the necessary basics, such as single or multi trip insurance, before they travel.
