23 November 2006 Employees 'travel mad' to use up holiday allowance
Many British employees have not yet taken their full holiday entitlement for 2006 and some, who may also have annual travel insurance allowance remaining, are quickly attempting to book a trip away, it has been claimed.
More Than reports that a quarter of all working Britons still have ten or more holidays they need to take before the end of the year, with many of these feeling that they are too busy to take their full entitlement.
Keira Clark, head of travel insurance at More Than, said: "Brits are avid travellers and we often find ourselves in quite far-flung and exotic locations even when the holiday is planned last minute."
She added that whether a holiday has been planned long before travel or much closer to the trip, it is essential to purchase sufficient cover, such as single or multi trip insurance.
In October, a survey by Employee Benefits Magazine revealed that a holiday entitlement above the minimum legal requirement of 20 days a year was one of the favoured perks of employment looked for by workers.
