12 June 2007 Daredevil Brits 'could invalidate travel insurance'
Britons with a taste for adventure who decide to engage in risky activities at the last minute when abroad could be running the risk of invalidating their single trip or annual travel insurance policy.
Popular adventure activities include rock-climbing, white-water rafting and bungee jumping, price comparison firm moneysupermarket.com reports, with these pursuits not necessarily covered by standard multi trip insurance.
Richard Mason, director of insurance at the firm, said: "Our research shows Brits don't think twice before deciding take part in impulsive activities while abroad."
He added that a number of leading travel insurance firms regard these sports as dangerous and will require holidaymakers to purchase additional cover to be financially protected if engaging in these pastimes.
Last July, Axa reported that 16 per cent of Britons engaging in adventure activities on holiday will not have purchased single or multi trip travel insurance cover.
