18 November 2006 Celebrities 'inspire destination weddings'
Couples picking up annual travel insurance and looking to tie the knot abroad may be taking inspiration from a number of celebrities who have had destination weddings, it has been claimed.
Wedding invitation supplier Bliss Ink Custom Stationary noted that a number of wedding magazines have reported the popularity of destination weddings, with some experts citing weddings by the likes of Pamela Anderson to Kid Rock as a possible influence.
Jeannie Keim, owner and lead designer of Bliss Ink, said: "For today's brides, a natural destination choice is a tropical island. In the islands they are virtually guaranteed gorgeous weather and they know their guests will be relaxed and ready to have fun."
The company reported a large increase in the number of its clients requiring invitations for island weddings in the last year.
Earlier this month, Saga, a supplier of single and multi trip insurance, reported that nearly 10.5 million Britons have had a holiday romance while abroad.
