08 December 2005 Caribbean beaches win world recognition A Caribbean island has been named as having the world's leading beach at the recent World Travel Awards.
Turks and Caicos was also named as being home to the world's leading family all-inclusive resort in what is the most comprehensive travel trade poll of its kind. 156,000 travel agencies and professionals in over 140 countries take part in the voting process.
"The event was a great success for Turks and Caicos and for all Turks and Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association (TCHTA) members as we emerged as a truly world-class destination that is becoming increasingly well known and accessible," said Caesar Campbell, CEO of the TCHTA.
For those with annual travel insurance eager to seek out the world's most luxurious beaches, the short listed finalists include South Beach, Miami; Negril, Jamaica; Daytona Beach, Florida and Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman.
The awards ceremony was held in conjunction with the World Travel Market Trade Show in London.
