14 December 2006 Cape Verde 'next holiday hotspot' Demand for holidays in Cape Verde is on the increase, with the destination tipped to rival the Canary Islands, it has been claimed.
Foreign property service Propertyshowrooms.com reports that the property market has "kicked in" in the region, with a number of hotels expanding to accommodate tourists, including those with annual travel insurance.
And Welland, a spokesperson for the firm, said: "Of all the countries we deal with, Cape Verde is probably by far the one that we would get the most enquiries for."
He added that the similar latitude of the islands to the Bahamas and five to six hour flight time are often mentioned when Cape Verde is being advertised to holidaymakers.
In August, currency specialist HIFX reported that Britons, such as those with multi trip insurance, who plan to have a holiday home abroad, are being attracted to Portugal and Cape Verde as potential destinations for their second home.
