11 April 2007 Businesspeople 'feel safe travelling' Britons heading abroad for business purposes, such as those with annual travel insurance, feel secure when abroad, it has been claimed.
Recent research from Barclaycard Business reveals that 96 per cent of British business travellers feel safe or mostly safe when abroad, while 67 per cent feel at least as secure as they did a decade ago.
Additionally, the survey found that 38 per cent of business travellers expressed concern regarding their personal safety abroad, with 59 per cent of these people opting to protect themselves in some manner.
Denise Leleux, director of commercial cards at Barclaycard Business, said: "It is reassuring to the travel industry that the vast majority of business travellers feel safe while on business travel."
She added that changes in the travel industry in the past few years had impacted on how business travellers feel when abroad, citing increased security checks and higher transport safety standards as examples.
Following disruptions at airports last summer, Bar UK urged a reform of contingency plans to facilitate a simpler implementation of increased security measures in the future.
