21 September 2005 Business travellers move online More and more people are using the internet to book their travel arrangements, according to new research.
Up until a few years ago, traditional travel agencies were still the first choice for business travellers.
But Forrester Research has revealed that this is no longer the case, as corporate travel moves online.
Some 41 per cent of business travellers now book online, an increase from the 37 per cent recorded last year.
Henry Harteveldt, vice president of Forrester Research, said: "Everybody's more internet savvy today than they were just two or three years ago and the (corporate travel) web sites are easier to use. The result is the travel industry has changed dramatically."
As employees use the convenience of online travel booking, they should also ensure they have annual, multi-trip travel insurance in place to cover their business jaunts.
Lorraine Sileo, an analyst with travel research firm PhoCusWright, commented: "It's about empowering the executives to make their own travel plans without the aid of other employees."
