02 April 2007 Business travel 'does not get easier with time'
Despite airlines offering increasingly improved services over recent years as they compete for the custom of corporate travellers, 86 per cent of those questioned in a recent survey said that they felt business travel is equally or more difficult today than it was two years ago.
Delayed flights, extended queues at airports for security checks and restrictions over carry-on luggage were all cited as major annoyances by the business travellers surveyed by Orbitz for Business.
However, the survey did find that 70 per cent of those questioned have had positive experiences of booking a trip online, while 12 per cent said that they were likely to fly to China for work purposes over the coming year.
"In order to best serve the corporate traveller, it's imperative we continue to observe their behaviours, habits, likes and dislikes," said Dean Silvey, chief executive officer of Orbitz for Business.
These findings come as Barclaycard revealed that business travellers are still sceptical over airlines' investment into in-flight mobile technology.
Six out of ten of the corporate travellers questioned by the credit card provider claimed that they did not want to see such technology introduced, regardless of any safety implications.
