20 February 2007 Bulgaria 'good for families and groups'
Recent construction of new accommodation in Bulgaria has resulted in increased interest in holidays in the area, it has been claimed.
Neilson, a ski tour operator, reports that new hotels and apartments built in the Bansko resort have resulted in a growth in trips to the country over the last two years.
Nina McMaster, senior product manager for the firm, said: "Bulgaria is good for families, couples and groups - good all round appeal."
She added that those new to skiing may be suited to the country due to the cheap price of lessons there.
At the start of this year, Bulgaria became the 27th European Union member state, widening the scope of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to include the country as a member of the European Economic Area.
annual travel insurance provider American Express recently warned holidaymakers that the EHIC does not cover the costs of repatriation or air ambulances required in emergencies, which can cost holidaymakers thousands of pounds without adequate travel cover.
