30 January 2007 Annual travel insurance 'more economical and convenient'
British holidaymakers have been advised that even if they go abroad only twice a year, they may be financially better off purchasing annual travel insurance rather than a single trip policy.
Research from multi trip insurance provider American Express reveals that its customers are planning 12 per cent more weekend breaks than last year, with a five per cent increase in foreign holidays.
It reports that holidaymakers booking a two week break and a second seven night trip each year would save money with the firm's annual travel insurance, rather than its single trip cover.
Joanne Field, marketing manager at American Express Travel Insurance, said: "You actually don't have to travel much throughout the year to reap the financial benefits of having annual insurance."
She added that purchasing annual travel insurance in preference to numerous single trip policies is "more economical and convenient" for travellers.
Last year the Post Office reported that multi trip insurance can provide holidaymakers with significant savings when booking trips abroad.
