14 June 2007 Annual travel insurance 'is cost effective for multi-trippers'
Britons who head abroad more than once a year have been advised that it can be cheaper to purchase annual travel insurance rather than individual single-trip cover.
American Express advises holidaymakers to purchase an annual policy if taking more than one holiday, while also suggesting travellers take the time to check the details of their insurance.
Joanne Field, marketing manager at the firm, said: "Annual insurance is the most cost-effective option for those who travel several times a year.
"As with all types of insurance, not all annual policies offer the same level of service in the event of a claim or cover limits."
She added that holidaymakers should make sure they check the "small print" on the policies they are looking to purchase, rather than solely comparing prices.
Last month, financial services advice firm MoneyExpert warned Britons that purchasing single-trip insurance can sometimes be a "quick fix" that does not offer best value for money.
