23 September 2005 Annual travel insurance for weekend breaks
The pressures of modern day life are hindering couples from going on romantic weekends away, according to new research from Teletext Holidays.
The study revealed that 61 per cent of the 33 million Brits in relationships have not been away for a weekend break in the last 12 months, with 16 per cent not doing so for more than five years.
It is not for lack of want though. Four in five couples think a romantic weekend away would benefit their relationship, while 88 per cent think such an occasion is essential.
For those who do want to make the most of the many exciting destinations that can be visited for short weekends away, annual multi-trip travel insurance is important to make sure you are covered while abroad.
Nishma Patel, managing director of Teletext Holidays, commented: "It's sad to see that modern life is taking its toll on romantic weekend breaks away.
"Having a weekend away is so much more accessible these days - the world is on everyone's doorstep and the prevalence of low cost airlines makes it easier to go away than ever."
